Hi, I’m Sam. I’m a designer and entrepreneur based out of Phoenix, AZ. I spent the last 7.5 years of my life in startup land, launching and running @mistoboxcoffee. You may have seen us on Shark Tank. Startup life was freaking STRESSFUL, so I gained a serious appreciation for self-care.⁠⠀

My husband Hank and I bought our first fixer-upper in Phoenix in 2017. After fixing it up, it's so cozy, it’s aptly nicknamed “the chill zone.” It's our little slice of heaven that we can come home to ⁠and completely reset.⁠⠀

I wanted to do it all again, taking all that I had learned from the first house, and putting it in a space that I could share with others. After years of neglecting my wellbeing running a startup, something inside of me was tugging in that direction. So, with one fixer-upper and about 20 straight years of watching HGTV under my belt, I'm starting a new journey that, for better or worse, I'll be sharing with you.⁠

After living in Arizona for eight years, I’ve come to truly love Phoenix's proximity to nature. You can be chilling at a brewery in the middle of the city, but only minutes away from a great hiking trail. Sun Moon House is a 12-minute walk or 3-minute drive to a trailhead in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. A sweet little preserve that is crisscrossed with hiking trails through the saguaros.

I'm doing most of the work on this fixer upper myself (bc #girlpower). Do I know what I'm doing? Absolutely not. Will I figure it out? I sure hope so. Don’t let this nifty tool belt fool you. I had to Google image where the hammer even went in the tool belt.
